KT M4 Doubles

Nothing special, but I finally built a template so these things are repeatable. Two of them shown here. They'll accept M4 mags with magpuls on ranger-style, and have elastic retention so a single won't bounce around too much. Two variations here as these are for trials...you can't see the difference, but one of them has some velcro added at the back of the pouch flap so you can roll it up and stow it open; thanks BT for the idea.

These are pre-production, so Im not taking orders on them yet. My new goal is to build an entire line then ship it off to manufacturing to have a shitload mass-produced with good QC in the US.


Anyway, the image is attached. Note there is also a 3-mag pouch, not shown. Looks the same, but its deeper (obviously). I have another design in the works for .223 10/20 round magazines. I don't have any plans to do AK mags yet, unless there's a significant interest.

Looks good, mate. Solid piece of kit. What range of colours do you plan to have available?

Coyote is the principal color I work with, but they could probably be made in woodland, CB, CT, OD and something new called Navy Seal, which is sort of halfway between desert tan and Coyote.

I've seen the Navy SEAL material. Would really work well with arid colours and ACU. Nice.

Morb, 3 questions for ya:

1)Any guestimates on pricing?
2)What other pouches are you looking to produce?
3)What type of materials will be used?

All my pouches are built using double-layer 1000D Cordura and milspec webbings / elastics. All thread is 68 weight nylon and ever seam is double stitched. All hook & loop is certified milspec as well.

I will be producing doubles, quads and sixers for M4 30 rounders as well as singles, doubles, quads and sixers for the new AR 10/20 .223 magazines. In the works are a number of things such as hyrdation carriers, GP pouches...you name it. Also producing the KT suspenders, a KT Chemlight Panel, pistol mag pouches and a few others.

Only thing I'm staying away from right now is holsters; I can't make em better than a 6004/6005, so there's no point trying.

Any reason why you have to have them made in the US and can't have them sewn here, aside from possible price differences? I'd rather keep my money in Canada employing Canadians...

Yes, but I'm not tooled for that stuff yet. Kydex isn't hard to work with, but you need very precise models to form the firearms. I don't particularly feel like baking my glock, so until I can get some high-quality models for molding, I won't go there.

I'm all for having goods made in Canada, but right now it's cheaper to do so in the US. The price is ultimately passed on to the consumer, so if I have them made in Canada they'll cost more.

If anyone knows any Canadian piecework manufacturing outfits that can source Berry Amendment Compliant milspec materials, let me know. So far, the only option has been Stateside.

Note - the MOLLE straps on the back of those pouches are in the "Navy Seal" color. I try to keep my Coyote webbing for PALS straps and other visible things. There's a real shortage of Coyote As you can see, the difference isn't huge but there's a definite contrast. Looks real good with Marpat-AR and Cadpat-AR, or 3-color but unless people ask for them I won't be doing pouches in that color until I can match the cordura and the webbing.

For those who were asking, tenative retail pricing for the doubles are $29.99 each. That's based on my early estimate but the production costs will dictate the final price. Pricing on the other models will be determined once they're built.

Sorry, I meant for magazines and other items, like Surefires and folders.

Hmmm...hadn't thought of that. Are you talking about PALS or belt mounted holsters for accessory items? I think I could do that.

Let me look into getting some raw Kydex. Then I'll have to fuck around with it for awhile. Molds have to be made, usually of wood. Tricky, cause you can't just melt it overtop of the item, you have to....erm, elongate ever knob and protrusion so that the item can slide in and out freely. Notched, sort of.

Actually, you can't make the straps any longer. Picture the pals straps in your head, and then notice where the end snap would wind up...right in the way of the stitching that closed the pouch. BHI is done the same way.
