Firepower F4 - Not firing
Greetings,
First off, I'd like to say hello to everyone. Im 'new' to Airsoft, but have been following it for some time. I would like to arrange an age verification meeting, but I'll post that in another thread. I recently purchased a Firepower F4 as a starter AEG as I didn't want to spend a great deal of money on a high end AEG. So far, its been a great gun, especially for the $140 price tag. It has a great power, decent accuracy, and a quick firerate. So far, there has been only two problems: 1. Magazine doublefeeding or even tripplefeeding. 2. Gun stopped firing Before I call up Palco, does anyone have any suggestions or solutions as to why it is not firing? Obviously the battery is fully charged. My original concern was that the battery had ran out of juice and did not have enough power to fire out a remaining BB, causing it to get stuck. I was right in the assumption that there was a BB in the chamber, but I had successfully removed it and the problem still persists. I can hear the gearbox click when I pull the trigger, but the rifle still does not fire. I've a warranty on the F4, so unless I know exactly what the problem is and how to fix it, Im not so sure I want to mess with the internals. Thanks in advance, - Jesse |

Return it. Anything beyond that is a waste of time and money.

Not so sure I want to be doing that. My budget is tight ATM and it would be quite difficult for me to pick up and gun that cheap.

Im not sure about the details, but it sounds like something maybe jammed. Unless your good with a mechbox and can open it up and have a peek inside and know whats spose to be where and whats not, the only other thing I can recommend is a return.

return it and get age verified. Low cost things do occasional get posted. (200-250 dollar range). Save up while you wait for the verification to go through.

hate to say it, but that's about what to expect from a low cost AEG.
if the gearbox is clicking sounds like a jam. Try removing the motor and triggering the anti-reversal latch. If you're lucky the GB won't explode when you do it.

Not to mention that fixing it may well cost more money than it's worth. Better to return it, get money back, and save up for something decent.
You will NOT regret it. |

We all may think greylocks is a bitter salty old dog who sounds like he's a skipping record, but his advice holds true (and it's good we have him around to keep repeating the same old good advice to all the newbies). Save at least a bit more money, you'll be infinitely happier.
To give you an idea of the deals that you can find, I picked up an AEG that's almost brand new, + 2 batteries + spare locap + spare hicap for about 300$. OR, when I got out of the sport 3 years ago, I sold my SR-16 with a few locaps (4?) and the battery for 280$. It was beaten up, but reliable. Good Guns do come up cheap, Cheap guns aren't worth the headache.

Indeed, I will definately keep that in mind. I suppose I should arrange a meeting soon so I can check out whats for sale here. I called Palco today and the lady told me she has no idea how I ended up with a black F4 as they don't ship to Canada, therefore they won't repair it. I'll just play with it and see what happens. I'll save up for a better gun, thanks for the advice.

Sadly, this is by far the best upgrade for Palco/Firepower guns:

I'm sorry if I sound like a skipping record, but the questions are always the same... so the answers remain the same. So does where those answers are written down.
