systema complete mechbox question
Hey Guys:
I'm just installing a systema turbo motor and high speed gearbox on my M4. After setting the motor height (as instructed in the manual, where you run the gearbox after taking out the cylinder, piston, etc..) I put the mechbox in the gun and tried shooting it. The first shot was good, but every shot after that was wierd. It did not sound crisp at all and I could also hear some grinding with every shot. I tried playing around with the motor adjustment screw and nothing would would (Iturned the screw all the way in until the motor would not turn, then I would loosen to try to set the correct motor height). I then opened my gearbox again and there's no wear/tear on anything (gears, motor) except for the RED SYSTEMA PISTON which has a lotta wear to it. Like the first 3-4 teeth on the piston are quite worn down (like I have another AEG with >60,000 rounds through it and that piston doesn't even look like the one in this new gearbox). Any ideas on what's preventing this gearbox from working properly? Thanks in advance! |

Does the grounding sound only occur when firing in full auto?
What battery are you using? The symptoms you're describing are typical to a setup that has a ROF that's too high for the system. If the problems occur only on semi-auto mode, then you need to look at your ROF issues. I'm assuming you're using the 1J spring? Again, please clarify what battery you're using. I don't think you should be using anything more than a 9.6v battery with that gearbox... I'd actually recommend you stick with an 8.4v battery. |

hey
I'm too scared to try out the gun on full so i've only used semi.
I'm using a 9.6V 3600mAH intellect battery. It's the new Systema Turbo Series kit that comes with an M100 spring. I didn't expect all the problems becuase the whole thing was built and tested by systema. thanks for the reply. |

Try using a weaker battery. It sounds like the gears are torquing so hard and fast, that it's stripping the piston in its spot. It's not too common to want to use a battery stronger than 8.4v when you're already running high speed gears and a turbo motor.

Thanks for the reply!
I tried it out again with an brand new piston and basically, the last tooth (The one that's really thick) just broke right off. So now, it seems like the last teeth are grinding. Does that mean that the piston isn't returning quick enough relative to how fast the gears are turning? I'll try an 8.4V tomorrow. |

It either means it's not returning quick enough, or the piston isn't seated properly in the compression chamber.
With the gearbox open and spring out, manually run through the cycle to see where the sector gear is engaging the piston - just to rule out the possibility that the piston is seated too far forward. Also check to see if the second tooth of both the sector gear and the piston are engaging properly and not crashing. Sometimes it helps to remove the second tooth altogether. The first piston tooth is strong enough to take the full weight from the get-go. |
