airsoft lubrication discussion
well i know that your supposed to use 100% silicone without any doubt, but i accidentally used a lubrication once with petroleum in it. i am pretty worried that i could have damaged my gun. could using a non 100% silicone lubrication damage your gun even if you use it once? i only put some in the barrel and in the magazine.

Check the hopup and/or other rubber parts
Petrolium dries them out beyond use (Or so I'm told) |

how would i know if the hop up is damaged? it seems to be working fine except the shots have gotten a little bit less consistent. is that a sign or is that normal when you take the first couple of shots whenever you start firing?

Wait...
Does that mean that we can use condoms as hop-up rubbers? Multi purpose?

Petroleum distillates break down a lot of the rubbers and plastics used in airsoft. Check your hop up, stretch it and see if it breaks. If it doesn't, soak it in a water/dishsoap solution asap to get the oil you used out of it and then use a proper lube to replace it

alright well i opened it up and everything seems to be fine except for one thing. i just stretched out the spring. you know how you push that lever and it pushes a cover back using a spring? well i stretched that out and now the cover dosent automatically pop back into its locations and i have to push the lever forward to lock it into position. you know i actually like it this way more. the way it was i had to hold the lever back everytime i wanted to change the hop up, and now i just push it back and it stays until whenever i push it back into place.
