Loading battery into AK47

So today I finally received my TM AK47. I also purchased some batteries for it (Intellect 8.4V 3600 and GP 8.4V 3300). Now, I've read the whole instructions on how to place the battery into the AK - is it just me or is it extremely difficult to do so???



Here it's simply placed in the stock. This is also as far as it'll go...



... which causes a problem: the battery sticks out just a little bit, so the wires bulge out even more.



Alright, so it's connected (yes I know how you have to tuck the fusebox down underneath into the stock and make an "S" shape of the wires to tuck the connectors in... which is also nearly impossible since one wire is longer than the other)



Yes, obviously when pressing down on the wires it will flatten a bit but it is IMPOSSIBLE to clip that plate back on. Too much of the battery and wires stick out.

Any suggestions? Anything wrong with the gun.......... or me? lol

The batteries MaH is too high, thus making the battery a bit bigger to my understanding... I could be wrong, but, I think that because it's 3300 it's not going to fit. Someone else halp him, because my knowledge on the subject is limited.

Hmm... could be I guess... but on many websites I found out these high mAhs batteries would work... and actually I made a thread about batteries for this gun before on this site and people suggested the 3300. Also, on retailer sites it would always say something like "people who have purchased this item (AK) also purchased:... blablabla" which would mostly be accessories... including these high mAh batteries.

Also, I have seen the lower mAh 8.4V batteries. I haven't held any but they looked the exact same size as the higher mAhs. It's the voltage that makes the battery pack bigger.... right? With the first battery I bought, the GP brand, the guy actually had to add another battery at the bottom to make it 8.4 because originally it was 7.2 so... seems to me the mAh doesn't matter in this case, I just can't fit the damn battery in the stock!

Hell, you're probably right... I just found that in my Thompson this happened, too, and all the things were in their place except the MaH, so that's what I drew my conclusion to what was making it not fit.

The sizes however, probably only change like... a couple MM's anyway... hard to visably see the difference without measuring tape or something.

pull off the rear stock and look into it. if memory serves there are tabs inside the stock that can removed to accomidate the larger battery size,,,only heard about this,,,never have tried it,,,good luck.

I had the same problem with a Sanyo 8.4 volt 2400mah large battery in my AK.

Once you get beyond 1800 mah (the size recommended by and designed for Marui), the cells become physically longer - too long to fit in the AK's stock.

My solution was to (carefully) cut the shrink wrap off the battery, remove the black plastic "cap" that the battery wires pass through, then take the battery ack to a battery shop and had them re-shrink wrap it. Then, I just threw some electrical tape over the exposed battery leads to prevent a short. That plastic cap adds just enough additional length that the battery wouldn't fit, but once I took it off I could cram it in.

If you're not comfortable doing it yourself, take it to your local battery store.

You can take a hack saw blade(w vice grips attached) and cut the interior tabs off the inside of the stock.
I have done this on 2 AK's and it allows me to fit a large 4300 MAH 9.6v battery. 10.8v is still too long but I will be reconfiguring the battery setup to fit soon.

Your stock will not fall apart, just remove it from the gun first and it is easy to see what can be removed to make more room.

Thanks a lot people. I'll go with the cutting-within-the-stock technique. I took some pictures first just to find out what you think should be cut before I make a mistake.



Here I highlighted what I THINK is blocking the battery. Also, this view is not from where the butt plate is located, this is from the gun's side where the wires and such run through.



The battery's in. It's hard to tell, even for me with the bare eyes, whether that little "pipe" or "tube" running from one side of the butt to the other is blocking the battery...



... although there doesn't seem to be any other objects that are in the way near the top.

So is this little bar really it? Cut it or forget it?

If you remove it everything should fit, I also removed some of the flat parts in the stock to give more wiggle room. But for you this should make everthing fit
