9.6v 1500mah battery for a TM AUG

Anyone done this before or have a link to a guide on how exactly it's done?

It won't fit, which I expected... but now that I stand before my beloved gun with a hacksaw, I am having second thoughts.

Perhaps someone with experience doing this mod could give me some pointers, I know you gotta modify the butt plate, I am just unsure about how much to remove and would hate to over do it.

you'll need to remove the plate that holds the gearbox in place which is not recommended as it will lead to misfeeds and other problems due to misalignment
a second option is to build a butt-extender
you might be able to squeeze it in if you scrap some rubber off the butt-plate but I'm not sure since I don't have the dimensions

Before you cut anything up, you'll want to move the fuse box behind the back plate. Just unscrew the two phillips screws on the plate, swing it forwards and pull upwards until it pops out. Bend up the wires a bit to make room and resecure the back plate with the fuse box behind it. This will leave you with only a couple centimeters of excess wire , so it may be difficult to arrange things, but it does make just enough space to get the AUG battery in.

If it still doesn't fit, then you can trim down the rubber butt plate like this:

If it STILL doesn't fit, you'll have to cut away a part of the back plate. This isn't recommended because it could potentially allow the mechbox to move out of position, should the gun be jarred heavily. It depends on how tight your mechbox is fit into the gun. I believe you cut away the lower third of the plate to remove the little curved bit that holds the tail end of the motor, as well as has that lip designed hold a mini battery securely. I'd personally recommend making a spacer behind the plate so that it still contacts the mechbox to hold it securely (between the upper half of the plate and the back of the mechbox where the spring guide is).

Yah it fit with zero modification, just had to tuck the fuse away behind the plate and play with the wiring. The battery fits, just barely but it looks solid.
