Gas Efficiency of KSC G19...

Question about this popular gun. First of all what is the usual refill interval for this GBB to begin with? I think mine is being quite gas guzziling on propane, as so far I have not been able to make it last much longer than 1 mag. When I talk to the ASCA guys about it when I went to their store the other day they mentioned something about a valve might have snapped inside, so I checked it out and didn't find anything out of ordinary when I took it apart. On my example that I purchased from one of the member here it is using metal slide and barrel plus uprated recoil spring. Would that have an effect on the consumption of the gas too? Also, without knowing the particular history of the gun(I am guessing other than the metal slide and spring that other parts should be stock), what fps is this gun operating at? Ones I've read online talked about it being able to do the coke can test with punchering one side while leaving a dent in the other side, but not existing(I think this is on Redwolf's review using green gas). On my example with propane it'll effortlessly go through both side of the can and crack the center region of the bottom side. Would this be considered abnormal and partially causing the gas consumption issue?

Thanks for any info you may provide.

I get about two good mags of shots out of one gas fill on a hot day with my KSC G19 (upgraded metal slide/barrel, enhanced recoil spring, enhanced hammer spring, metal mag catch, 6.04mm tightbore). Of course, I don't have hi-flow valves installed in my mags (pfft, for 6 mags, that'd be expensive!), which MIGHT be what your's has if it's acting like that, unless there is a slow leak or something (am assuming you are filling the mag with gas properly, so I won't bring it up). Those let more gas pass into the system to give higher fps and kick, meanwhile your gas endurance goes down.

Velocity, I think I chronied about 305fps last year with 0.20g on a warm day using propane, and this year after installing a tightbore I got 341fps a couple times in the same kinda temp.

I got the same issue with 2 different mags though(one of them do have a leak somewhere, I can hear it), but the other one is brand new. Which led me to believe it might be the gun...I guess it might not really be an issue in a short game since if you are out of ammo on one mag its not likely you can get time to reload the mag...but at anyrate...

Only issue it'd be is if you empty your GBB mags while out in the field, and have little reason to head back to the staging area to reload your main gun, you can reload BBs into your GBB mags (using ammo from partially spent AEG mags)........... I think you get the picture.

Load with bbs and gas every time

I have 4 G19s and 12 mags... every one to the last required a gas top up with every reload or you can not count on the gas being there when you need it.

We load realcap in our mags.. even with that getting a full power second reload on BBs without a gas top up is hit or miss.

Propane is cheap... just top em up

well if you guys at TTAC3 needs to do this then I guess it just might be the gun and how it uses the gas. Other than the gas consumption I am loving the G19....

before i upgraded my G19s i tested the gas efficiency of my G19s. I tested them in room temperature around 21-22 celcius. a full mag of propane (3.5-4 second charge) using .20 BBs with a bone stock KSC G19. I fired each BB with 2-3 second intervals and i managed to get 4 and 1/2 mags worth of BBs on a single fill of gas.

Now my Glocks are modifed with HurricanE tune-up kits, with metal slide and barrel. and on average i get 2 to 2 1/2 mags of BBs in room temp.

I love em too.. 2 out of the four are totaly worn out...Outer barrels broken, sears snapped... but they were used 12 hours a week for a year solid.. the mags are robust and can take a drop... which happens a lot when new operators are using the guns.

Mine are KJW G19s all i did was put guarder recoil springs in them to keep the action snappy...I will buy 10 more of them soon... and 30 mags. I trust them

Does firing interval also may play a role in this as well?

Cool down will happen if you shoot too much too fast, resulting in lower gas pressure when you shoot it, and possibly getting the mag & interals cold enough you'll lose your gas. Pretty much the same thing if you are using the GBB in a cold environment, gas pressure drops off fast.
