my "upgraded" vfc is broken yet again
This gun had zero issues when it was stock. Had it upgraded by a recommended fun tech and have been plagued with issues. Gears stripped after a couple thousand shots, had them replaced. Chunk of the broken gear was left behind and found its way into the gears. Had that mess cleaned up. Now I put about 3000 rounds through it and it just whines like in the video. Motor height is not an issue. Opened the gearbox and all the gears are fine, piston looks fine. No metal pieces or anything. Pulled the motor and ran it off the battery and it had tons of torque.
I am at a lose and quite honestly fed up with what appears to have become a lemon of an "upgraded" gun. http://m.youtube.com/watch?feature=e...v=cBkVz_KbIQE# |

Likely the pick up tooth on the back of the piston is broken off, if all the gears are spinning and meshing this is what the issue is.
Get a lonex red reinforced piston to avoid this in the future

The piston looks fine. It's an SHS piston and I couldn't see any visible damage.

Is the piston rotated, or is it sitting on its rails properly? Turn the cylinder until you can see the piston through the port and ensure its not rotated relative to the rails.

It's on the rails.

You can see the piston move slightly so that means the sector is touching when moving somehow. If it just broke again it could easily be the piston back did you take it apart recently or only when it was fixed last time? Some SHS pistons were off spec in the past causing jams on the rails.
The only way to test is take it apart and had turn the gears and see why it is not connecting with the piston. Sometimes the back of a piston can be broken/cracked and still attached appearing whole

sounds like stripped something... completely stripped. no other gears heard.. probably the pinion or bevel. Not sure what maddog is looking at, you can't see the piston at all in that angle.
shit breaks. especially if you are buying shs gears. You might be the unlucky one that got the 1 in 4 sets that break. I've installed about 20 sets this year, 5 had sector gear failures that shortstroked themselves by 2 or 3 teeth. The others are still going strong.

I am dropping these shit ass parts and am ordering siegtek gears and a lonex burgundy piston. Have reached out to a different gun tech for assistance in bullet proofing my build

lol. provided that your original tech wasn't the worst tech ever, shs gears can just break. Though if you have the money for seigeteks.. why not. call pesto... or steve.

The amount of problems I have had with this build have been more then I am willing to put up with. I know issues are part of the airsoft game, I am just tired of mine happening literally during every game I play. And I dont even play hard or beat my gear like some people do. I know it could be the parts I am just not willing to take anymore chances with these parts/brands or the tech I used.

Gears -->
Everything looks ok to me here. No metal shavings or bits that I can see. Next to no wear? Piston --> Again everything here looks ok. No cracks, no broken teeth, etc. Come on pros! Am I missing something here? Everything moves nicely. Gears all mesh and move together. Teeth engage the piston nicely. Piston slides like butter. ARGH :banghead: |
