WE Hi-Capa 5.1 slide release doesn't stay in place.
Hi everyone,
My friend owns a WE Hi-Capa 5.1, and he recently developped an issue with it. I think he disassembled the slide (no heavy dismantling), and since he brought it back together, the slide release lever can't stay in place. It falls off pretty easily. Any tips? Here's some pictures. The falling part : On the gun : Thanks for the future help! |

I have the exact same problem. I have no idea why it happens, but I'm willing to bet that it has something to do with the plastic frame

mine too, with use, the slide release is making a larger hole in the plastic lower frame.
so this piece is moving too much easily inside out. The only thing I found out to correct this problem would be making a hole on the right hand of the release, and install a screw so you'll have to unscrew it to put it out.... or just get a metal lower frame. A lock-pin on the release could have helped... but would damage the plastic frame faster I also tested to put some paint on the round part that goes inside the frame to put some friction. Too much paint would make it unmoveable up and down (what we don't want) but it helped Last edited by Splashx; May 16th, 2012 at 13:16.. |

You guys are missing a pin that holds the slide release in, it shares the same spring as the pin that holds the safety in place on the side you are showing. It sits at the top of the pistol grip.

You can make one with a finishing nail... lost the pin on all my Hicapas.
Just make sure to get a picture on internet, you will need a good fine file and a dremell tool. |

If you have the stock pin and spring you can do a little trick that I did. If the pin has the small prong that fits into the spring you can put a drop of superglue on a piece of paper and dip the end of the spring into it. Then immediately put the pin into the spring. By doing this you effectively make all three pieces one piece thats much harder to lose.
I have done this on my WA pistols with great success. |

Oh my god thank you Karnage!!!
I can finally solve this problem and remove the piece of tape I used to keep my pistol together....... And Jordan's idea of making the three pieces into one harder to lose piece is really good. I've actually gone through a couple sets of these already...
