I am going to be working on the APS AKS-74U FULL METAL ELECTRIC BLOW-BACK AIRSOFT RIFLE (ASK-205) and was wondering if anyone has any tips or tricks as I have no opened an EBB AK before. I googled but only really came up with this for take down.

Being a VFC I assume its a different build all together.

Links or general info would be great.

Don't take my word for it, I belive APS guns may be TM clones takedown may be similar to a CYMA AKS-74u.

I had an APS M4, the take down for the V2 APS gearbox is the same as a regular one except the upper part of the gearbox had a rail cut into it for the blow back function. I am gonna guess the AK one should be similar

Ive done the M4 and it was super similar but the AK doesnèt have the 4 screws in the magwell or some other signs that its a TM style. I am assuming it will be more like the VFC but still looking for someone who has been into one.

AirsoftPRESS Tech Video: Upgrading the APS AK EBB AEG - YouTube
I have to be missing something. This video is fairly useless as it shows none of steps to get to removing the gear box. I have taken a first shot and am fairly lost. There is a little lever that sticks out of from between the two front grips and takes down nothing like a TM so far. Still could use some help.

hi mate make sure you unscrew the screw in the mag well then remove the little metal plate out from underneath remove the top 2 screws in the hop then slide the plastic bit under the hop unit forward then push the hop unit forward and remove the gearbox it will be easier if the air nosel is back abit too so if this dosent work put your gun on semi and pul the trigger quickly so it only half cycles then try then

BOOYAA! I made a video, it`s fairly rough but it gets the major points across for the difference between this gun and the TM style AKs.

Once in the gearbox I only found that the anti reversal latch was super different with the little return spring going into a hole in the back of the latch. Besides that everything else is fairly obvious.

So disassembly is like a VFC then, with pins if you want to take off the front end.

VFC style airsoft ak disassembly - YouTube

It's very different than the above video in that you don't remove the front end. Instead of completely removing it you are just getting the pieces in front of the hop-up out of the way so it can slide forward to release the air nozzle.

Is there a different style of VFC Ak that is more similar to the APS takedown?

Take out the Gearbox from VFC AK series - YouTube

Did some more searching and found this, it very close if not the same for takedown.

I figured that APS was doing a copy and not doing "from scratch" design work.
