Making a Battery Connector
So here goes...
Trying to make standard ICS male battery connector, to charge your standard AEG battery with female connection I am trying to build a battery connector for my new charger... Doesn't come with one but comes with parts to add one on. I THINK I know what to do... I am basically looking at how the connect is build on the battery, and matching what I see. So basically at the end of each of the metal stem, there are 2 ties.... I am to assume the first one, is to just to clamp on to the plastic part of the wire, and 2nd tie is to clip onto the copper wires inside? Please let me know... I don't want to kill myself. Would help if you mention what type adaptor you are trying to make.

I doubt you have a 5-cell battery, that would be 6v. It's more likely 7-cell and 8.4v
You also didn't answer CDN's question. |

Depending on the Charger, in my case a Passport ultra, it has 2 styles of connector from the factory, but you can buy 8 ot 10 different ones taht simply plug into the 2 pole Molex plug..
I had to buy a adapter with a blue EC3 end on it, too bad sold out So i had to options to make one. either get a female molex, female ec3 some wire and get hot soldering OR banana plugs and blue EC3 connector. I built the Banana version.. these 2 links show the two options i had.. http://www.greathobbies.com/producti...rod_id=DYM5001 and the option i chose http://www.greathobbies.com/producti...rod_id=DYM5007 Good luck. |

I have this charger : http://www.airsoftparts.ca/store2/in...oducts_id=1302 Trying to charge this type of battery(except mine is 1300) : http://www.airsoftparts.ca/store2/in...oducts_id=1069 My charger didn't come with the proper male plug for this type of battery... It did come with a pack with just the plastic head and small metal stems, which means I have to mod or make my own... Which, is what I am trying to do, and apparently I think I am doing this all wrong. Umm.. Is there no simple charger for this type of battery?... Something that I can just plug, and charge? :P |

the photo of the battery lead is hard to tell, it kind looks like a micro plug
you might be able to bustardize something using banana plugs. I reccommend taking the battery to a regular hobby store and I bet they set you up for under 10 bucks. tell them you want Banana plugs to what ever end the battery has. slick fast and No Fires hahah |

I never imagined Airsoft to require so much electrical know-how. :P hahahha... But I am enjoying myself because I am learning Also, what Amps should I set my charger to when I charge my battery? Its as shown, with 1300mAh. I checked a safe charge time table that came with my charger's manual, it says for 1000mAh batteries charge at 1.2A for 70mins, etc... Since mine is 1300mAh I set it to 1.3A for now... I will try to charge it for 1hr. anyone have experience on this? Last edited by teriases; June 24th, 2010 at 01:00.. |

No, it's a Tamiya mini connector, very common in airsoft.

Umm...
Yea the battery doesn't seem to be charging at all. Either that, or my rifle is screwed up. Its connected, but nothing on the LCD screen indicates its charging.... just says like NiMH Battery - MAX and Voltage... no "Charging" etc etc... Maybe it doesn't say anything at all? Gah, this is driving me nuts. shoulda just bought a el-cheapo wall charger and unplug the thing when the batter is warm... Puzzling, I'll test for voltage tomorrow... sigh. -_- |

Just want to close this thread.
Issue resolved. Apparently the manual didn't advise on how to turn ON the charge mode.... -_- I contacted the retailer, and problem is now solved!!!!!! As a bonus, the Moplex head I made works! I'm so good at wiring! *wires falls out of the moplex head* -_-; All jokes aside, thanks everyone. |
