From what I can tell about the TM ak's is that they are "tuned" to work well stock, how ever when you start to change things is when you have the issue.
Yah I do find the lower fps a little frusterating at times, expecially when the other guy can see my rounds fly and literaly dodge them... Other than the ugly ass body, what do you guys think of rhe G&G one, seems to be the only AK not mentioned here. |

correct my if i'm wrong. but a new CA costs just about the same?($500)i wouldn't mind owning one but again, they are scarce in canada. things i keep in mind are "if you want to play, u gotta pay". especially for the canadian airsoft community.:infantry:

I think new CA Ak's are between 500 and 600, yeah, there's a few retailers out here that have them, I don't know if any are in stock at the moment though.

I'm pretty sure that the new TM AKs come with aluminium receivers, it's been mentioned on redwolf, and I think the TM website, although I'm not sure about the latter.

New TM AK's are version 9 and I don't think there are many in Canada...
The TM AK I'm talking about.. is the V3 TM AK47 |

Thanks for clarifying all that Amos.
So that means the Ak74s being put out by TM are the V9 simulated blow backs guns, and that in itself is an entirely different thread. My vote stands for the Tokyo Marui V3 AK. If I had to have a second vote it would be for the classic army SLR105 series.

TM AK FTW!!
If you like shitty plastic externals and low fps hehhehe I can't believe ppl are still touting tm as being an option for the ak user, if you want metal and wood (like any true airsofter should) then buy a Real Sword, can't afford that, then get a VFC or CA at least the metal body justifies the price, what does TM have except some magical gearbox that gives some ppl wood, really what does it have to justify costing more than a full metal a Dboys or even Cyma Ppl say dboys and other clone internals are garbage, I've owner 10+ dboys drop in gearboxes and have never had one fail on me EVER, and they are dirt fucking cheap to replace if they ever did so what's the big deal about TM? $500+ for some shitty creaky plastic externals, outdated "battery tray" design and the limitation of only having 8.4v stick batts fit without modification? Seriously? Yall need to wake up and realize that while tm might be a great company that does alot of its own R&D etc, its v3 original ak's are utter shite, any ak enthusiast will tell u so

The insides of a Dboys is honestly almost identical to a Kraken... So basically... You're getting a Kraken in a low-grade pot-metal dress... The TM AK47 (Now an RPK) that I built had been around for roughly 6 years previous to me building it... and since It's became an RPK, it's gone through a minimum of 2000 BB's a game and it's been relatively problem free since. When's the last time you've held a brand new TM AK47? Nothing on them creaks and they're very solid guns all around. A TM AK47 shooting at 280 FPS will out-range and out-group a stock Dboys. All the Dboys stuff I've worked with has had horrible small issues that cause a bunch of fuck ups (Gearbox shells mis-aligned, bearings seized, MASSIVE air loss from the cylinder head and nozzle... not to mention having to fight with aftermarket parts for them to fit properly) Last edited by Amos; November 16th, 2009 at 18:39.. |

Can't say very long but the people I've sold them to in my various project guns have always been happy with tv performance
Its been a while since I held a new tm but honestly, Plastic is not very solid to me, I don't care how nice you think the fake wood finishnie or how nice and grey that receiver is, its still frigging plastic and that sux balls; I'm not advocating clones exclusively over tm either, obviously RS and VFC etc and better, but for ak's tm is the bottom of the pile for me As for aftermarket parts fitting, why do ppl feel that they must upgrade when a stock dboys box already has a nice fps and good airseal especially with element hopups (oh god no cheap brand parts!) so I don't know why this should be an issue
