What ever you do stay away from the M4 Deluxe. That was one of the first aeg's that i bought and i had to return it right away. It looks pretty cool however the trigger is plastic and breaks very easily. I bought that at cabelas a year ago (maybe aftermath fixed the problem), brought it home, charged the battery and went outside to test it out. I didn't even squeeze the trigger hard and it just snapped! So my advice is stay away from that gun. I have heard that aftermath put metal triggers in their new guns.
Hope that this helped, if not then just disregard this post. |

Back order
You might want to call Cabela's if you haven't yet. I can tell you for certain that they have them on the floor. They have stock in the back for mail order and then stuff on the floor. Someone bought out everythging from stockroom. If you call them, they might bring one in from the floor for you. I don't know if they do that but I know they have them. And they are the right Krakens since there is no such thing as a different version from Aftermath.

TLDR. but... May I add in that buyairsoft is going to be under new management. (Canadian Airsoft Supply bought it out I believe).
You can't really slam it anymore until we see what the new management has in store for buyairsoft.

Keep in mind what else you will have to spend money on to play airsoft. Gear such as vests, you need a good pair of boots, goggles, BDU/camo, mags, batteries, other accessories, upgrades/replacement gearbox parts, upgrades/replacement external parts, BBs, game costs, travel to games... I could keep on going.
To get really started in airsoft you will need about $1000 for basic gear and whatever else I listed. |

I started with a TM M4 RIS I picked up in Japan for $230 new out of the box, telling myself "it's just another model....yeah it's 1/1 scale and, yeah there are moving parts and it's really detailed, but it's just another model, like my Tamiya cars and ships". I was never going to play, but then the more I held it, the more I wanted to shoot it. One thing led to another, and I found myself with a used battery and a charger, and some Crappy Tire BBs......next thing I know i'm buying a vest and ordering extra mags from Ehobby. Anyways, I'm a noob, and let me tell you from one noob to another ty12004, get into it any way you can, try Craigslist. I've come across some used guns that are cheap. Maybe rent your guns for now, see what you like, and save your $160 until it grows into something a bit more. That thing you saw for $160 will probably provide you with some fun, but if you want to flip it one day (and you probably will), you probably won't get much and you've lost most of your $160. If you like it, then you can start picking up gear a bit at a time....Yeah, you'll probably spend close to $1000, now that it's out, but it's not like you'll have to drop that much at once....look at me, $20 here, $50 there....it's less painless that way...for us poor folk anyways.

meh, that doesnt really scare me off. I am a pc gamer as well so $1000 isnt all that much compared to that addiction. I have just been looking into a fun sport that gets the rest of my friends off of the couch. We used to go paintballing but the price really threw me off since the arenas around here require you to use their paintballs and it is $10 for 90. Plus I like my guns so using a replica, albeit clear plastic at the moment, really makes the game more exciting in my eyes.

You'll end up spending $1,000 once you have your kit.. whether you do it all at once or piece by peace. Airsoft, compared to paintball, has a higher startup cost but is significantly cheaper to play ($10 for 2,000 rounds, pennies to charge a battery). The thing you have to consider with a gun like the Kraken or any other clone, is the chances that it's going to break down and cost to repair. Most people will tell you it's still cheaper to buy a clone, but that assumes you know how to fix it if/when it does break.
I personally think clones are overrated. Yea, they allow people who don't want to spend a lot of money to get into the sport... but I've compared numerous clones to their TM and CA equivalents... and they have always been found wanting. Personally, I still recommend to newbies that they start with a Classic Army or something. I started with a Classic Army G36 and have never regretted it. Though to be perfectly honest, the best "clone" available at the time was the CYMA 0.27 (essentially the Aftermath Lycon) which wasn't a great gun. JG has come a long way, but I still think they're a far cry from CA/TM/G&P/ICS. But anyway, to start, here's a cost breakdown on top of the gun itself. Things with an astriks * are pretty essential. *good battery charger: $35+ *good batteries: $25-$35+ each *BBs: $15 for 2,000 .25s or .28's. Additional magazines: $15-25 each, depending on what you want. BDU's: $60-$120 good Vest (never get a shitty vest): $100-$200+, depending on used or new and where you find it good boots: $100 additional shit I forgot: $10-$200+ So you see, if $160 is your entire budget... it's not going to go very far.
