The first picture has a black piece with a little spring in it. This seems to be out of line, but it could just be compressed and that is what it is supposed to look like. Tell me if the links dont work.

If what you're saying is true (which it seems that it has come time to face fact), then opening the gearbox would have no solution, and i couldn't unstick (lack of a better word) the piece?

That yellow thing in the back of the mechbox is your piston. Your mechbox is locked up - could be many different reasons! No way to tell until the mechbox is opened to see what's wrong. Be careful when openeing it because the piston/spring will want to decompress and can shoot parts everywhere.

I just opened up a mechbox yesterday for a guy and his piston was locked all the way back also like yours. Turns out his piston head exploded inside.

Any broken teeth on the gears? Hard to tell from the pics? Look closely...

Doesn't look that way to me. The anti-reversal latch was way out of place when I opened it though. This could be the problem or it could of been because of the spring going back into place when it opened. I spun the gears to look all the way around them, and it looked OK. Should i clean everything up while im in there, or just leave it? I am probably going to put her back together now and see if it works.

The anti reversal latch of my M4 pops out everytime I take the mechbox apart and is a bitch to hold in when I put it back together. Don't worry about that.

Might just be a timing or shimming issue which causes the mechbox to lock or simply the battery once again that might have a dead cell of just dont have enought juice to run it properly ( happens oftenly with simptomes like yours) Even tought it work on your RC car, it doesnt mean its strong enought for the gun. Most RC works fine with 7.2v 600 mah bateries....

Whats the stock shimming configuration for the m16a4? just 1 on top and 1 on bottom of each gear or different every gear?

eeeew.... i took a look at the cylinder because i shot the gun with the gear box exposed and saw the piston move back and jam in there when i shot. Then i see that my cylinder head has no o-ring or anything on it, and i can put it all the way through the cylinder. Is this normal?

Scratch that, the bottom of the cylinder head with the o-ring ( which is very, very loose) got stuck and jammed on the back of the piston. I think im on my way to a solution. Any suggestions on a fix?

Hit up the guys on airsoft retreat, best to find someone there that's local to you. I'd say ship it here to me to fix for you, but it won't make it across the border (will get seized and most likely destroyed).

If you ask around on ASR, maybe mention Canadian_Stalker suggested you do so, I mostly frequent the Sniper's Perch there and many seem to respect my opinion.

BTW, that black platic peice on the side of your mechbox with the spring is your selector plate, it has nothing to do (really) with your piston jamming back like that. BTW, how did charging your battery work out?

Yea, thanks. I realized that was the selector plate when i was opening it and looking at guides. Should i look into getting a new piston and cylinder head among other things, or just those two? Im going to go post in ASR too, thanks for looking.
