You look at Chinese retailers and compare with Canadian! Canadians have to pay sales tax (the chinese don't charge that) and duty to get the guns into the country. 5% Gst and 7% import duty. There is 12% there.

Then hire a freight forwarder to get it from China to Canada, do customs brokerage, etc. , etc.

If prices are only 35-40% higher, those retailers are hardly making any money.

If you go to Hong Kong or Japan you can get those guns for 40% less.

Lobsters are $6 per pound here in Nova Scotia, but are $40 per pound in Japan and Hong Kong. Maybe they should be the same price halfway around the world!!
Thats about the same line of argument the car dealers here are making....and buyers have gone across the border and got their cars for 40% less!!!

But given the restrictions, i would support the local business on this side.

just saying, if you want airsoft to be cheap like our friends across the border, think of heading down the politician route and become the prime minister or the position where you can easily get a bill to pass to make airsoft even more legal to import but there could be a possibility of some bad coming in...

Airsoft is more expensive in Canada primarily because of lack of supply, slowly changing now. But also because there is not the demand that there is in other countries so retailers can make their money on volume of sales. Prices are going down though, I have seen about a 30% reduction in prices in the 2 years I've been part of this community.

Those cars are often made in Canada and there are free trade agreements with the US to eliminate tariffs that do not apply to Chinese trade.

Regardless of underlying reasons, the price is so jacked up that it raises serious questions in line of $$ off the sticker price. But i digress...this is about cars.

If you think prices are high, where were you 2 or 3 years ago? Things are way cheap right now.

QFT - He's been doing a great job out there, no doubt about it.

I wouldn't quite call them "pioneers"... anyone with a BFL could do the same thing. It's just illegal to sell replicas, and most other companies don't want to risk this.

Can't say you'll find me complaining though

Prices of the items that are on FRT or Official distributor are dropping pretty steep. The only airsoft imported without BFL that hasn't drop is the CAS ones. They hoard too much money, a KJ for $500 is a lil ridiculous when the Firearm version is $600 here.

AEG, GBBR will continuing to drop in prices
GBB pistol will probably not, clear soft still didn't put much impact on it.
Rare Airsoft will retains its value much like it has in the past.

Yeah they are licensed to sell firearms so they actually CAN sell unlike traditional BFL holders who only have them for theatrical purposes.

Price have gone down slightly overall ... depending what it is and availability

China manufactured airsoft guns are harder to come across now and that has nothing to do with Canada.
