Can bolt action sniper rifles shoot aluminum BBs

I was thinking of getting a bolt action sniper rifle and I was wondering if they could shoot aluminum BBs for target shooting and how the aluminum BBs would affect accuracy. :snipe:

Just buy a pellet gun if you want to do target shooting.

I know your in the newbie thread and I don't mean to flame in anyway.

if your going to use that in target practicing, then just get a pellet gun from canadian tire. But from what I read in your first thread, I don't think your going to use an airsoft gun in a safe way. Or any gun for that matter.

A pellet gun is a lot more accurate than an airsoft gun. If you want to shoot things, go buy a pellet gun.

i can second that...i used to plink a lot with pellet guns (pistols and rifles alike) and they are much more accurate and don't cost nearly as much.

Short answer: No.

Correct me if Im wrong but aren't most aluminum BBs 4.5MM? Airsoft guns are chambered for 6mm BBs so no, it wouldn't work.

I have yet to see 6mm alluminum BBs.

Some are teflon coated.
All the heavy BBs I saw, where still plastic, even the .43g.

Aren't most aluminum BB's also graphite coated which will wreak havoc on your hop up and inner barrel?

buyairsoft.ca carries aluminum .3 wt. BB's. in 6mm. They are hollow, and act the same as a solid plastic .3 wt BB. Not worth the extra money they cost in my opinion

Aluminum BBs can be shot by a bolt action sniper rifle. They are 0.29g to 0.30g weight. They have no benefit over plastic BBs. And are harder to find, more expensive. And they are not graphite or teflon coated, they are just pure soft aluminum.

I have some solid aluminum (I think) 6mm bb's. They are heavy sonsofbitches and I ran a few through my APS which used to be shooting just shy of 600 fps with .2s. Never chronied with the metal bb's but they did not pack enough punch to even go through 1 side of an empty water bottle. I'D say stick to heavy bastards or the madbull heavy weights. They work great.
