Most good quality chargers will turn off, or have a beep when or something when your battery is done charging. If you are using a simple wall charger that has no detection then you will just have to do the math yourself. Check the charing rate on the wallcharger and divide it into your mah of your battery.
For example if your charger chargers at 300mah an hour, then a battery of 900mah would be done in 3 hours.

It will actually be slightly more, since Ni-Mh batteries only retain about 80% of the energy put into them.

You can avoid that by lowering the charge intensity. My batteries stay cold, and I usually take 8H to fill them ( I almost never use the fast charging ) Also a tester on a full battery gives a higher voltage than the nominal tension: 9.6 V gives more than 10V, 10.8 more than 11.

Good chargers have a current counter measuring the maH going in when charging, also you can set to the number of maH you want.

So with that info in hand, if you do your math correctly you shouldnt have any issues with charging your battery. Just dont randomly leave the house and forget about it.
