I did not realize this thread was already 4 pages long and nobody mentioned. AOE(angle of engagement) or sector gear piston teeth attack(this what they call it in other forums).

Piston grinding is an easy fix or you can mod the piston before shit happens. Be it high speed or torque set ups.

Procedure.
-grind the first two teeth
-shim the sector gear to right angle of piston teeth.

This also cures the semi-locking issues.

and correct, your spring with your high speed gears should give you both high ROF and FPS.

but you will need either a 8.4v high MAH or a 9.6v umm.. mediumish MAH battery to pull your spring

i haven't tried high speed gears but i would be wary of 11.1v lipo's with them.

shiming is a no-brainer. at least with the non-modular gearsets

and as for grinding, the above mention piston is already setup like that. i did grind that fisrt tooth out and i think that may have been the root of my piston failure

I would say so. You should take a look at http://www.cheapbatterypacks.com. They have really good quality cells and a ton of choices. Not to mention amazing prices.

Each cell is 1.2V, so if it is 7 cells, the voltage is 7cellsx1.2V/cell= 8.4V

alright i got my new piston, so i called my local hobby shop and they said that i can take my current 8.4V 1400mAh stick battery, add another 1400mAh cell to make it a 9.6V 1400mAh battery.

i dont want to test with the 8.4V 1400mAh, i dont want to screw anything up.

suggestions?

get a new battery all together. one thing to think about when adding a single cell is that they won't be matched anymore.

oops my bad, the other cell would be coming from another exact same 8.4V 1400mAh stick..

Still check out the specs of your charger, it wont' charge fully in some models. The one I have charges up to a maximum of 7 cells, and while I can still charge a 9.6V, it's not fully charged due to it having 8 cells. Good enough for testing, not sure if I'd trust for gaming.

trying with your 8.4 batt won't hurt anything, either it pulls the spring or it stalls out (then you may as well put the batt away)


if it pulls really slowly between shots, poor trigger response, i wouldn't use it either because the motor is just going to drain your battery quickly.

thanks for info,
my charger reads "Charger for 4-8 cells",
these batteries are very new, 1 of the sticks has been charged 3 times while other 2 times.
