TM SIG SG 552 Not Working

I just received my Systema N-B Cylinder Type 1, my Prometheus Air Seal Nozzle and my Prometheus MS110SP Spring and just installed it in my otherwise stock gearbox. I'm planning on getting a cylinder head, piston head with bearing, piston and spring guide with bearing somtime after Xmas. But I just wanted to see if my gearbox still works, so I pluged in my 8.4V 1600mAh mini battery and pulled the trigger. Nothing happens when I pull the trigger, but the motor turns with no problem when not connected to the gearbox. So I know that it isn't an electrical issue but a gearbox issue. But what could it be? I didn't touch anything else except around the cylinder and spring area and I had no issues closing the gearbox afterwards.

Do you have another motor to test it with? Broken motors are known to spin without a load. Open up the mechbox, remove the spring, spring guide and piston, close it and put the screws back and see if you can spin the gears freely with your fingers.

I just tried right now. I removed the piston, spring and spring guide, closed the gearbox and was able to spin the bevel gear freely with my finger.

But what I also just tried was connecting the motor up without it connected to the gearbox with my battery attached and now the motor doesn't even spin at all when I pull on the trigger.

Anyways, I hope you can help me diagnose the problem soon and Merry Christmas!

did you put the screws in as well, its tighter with the screws in, however I think its probably your motor. only way to check is if you have another one.

Does the motor even try to spin when installed to the gearbox? If not, check to see if you pinched a wire in the gearbox shell. You might be getting a short that only affects the motor once the mount is attached to the shell.

Well, right now I have the gearbox closed with the piston, spring and spring guide removed. After attaching a battery and the connectors to a second motor, nothing happens as well when I pull on the trigger. I also even tried closing the switch manually with it out of the gearbox with a battery and motor connected and there's no spark happening. Could it be that I have a blown fuse?

I also think that it's the new battery because I took off the plastic heatshrink tubing that was on it originally and just wraped electrical tape around it. I'm charging another battery that I have right now so I'll post up again and let you guys know if that works.

EDIT: I just decided to try the new battery on my other TM SIG SG 552 which hasn't been modified in any way insternally and nothing happens when I pull the trigger. So I am assuming that it's the battery and not my motor or a electrical issue. I'll keep you guys posted once I finish charging my other battery and try it on my modified TM SIG SG 552 which I was originally having issues with.

So now that I got it working, I decided to chrono the gun to see how much FPS I gained from the upgrade. To my surprise, I was only shooting out around 180-200 FPS on 0.25g BB's!

Could that be because I'm only using an 8.4V 1200mAh mini battery?

No, battery should not affect velocity, except maybe if it is really low, but then it probably wouldn't fire. If you did a compression test with your piston and nozzle, then its probably your hop up. Make sure that ring/oring is there on the barrel.

Also, depending on your chrono, many aren't accurate. Make sure the barrel and hole are parallel and that both the gun and chrono are on a steady base. you shouldn't be touching the chrono or gun unless your firing it, otherwise theres a chance of movement which can completely throw your readings off.

When I got the TM AK47 Inner Barrel, it came with a ring. But I didn't know where it would go so I put away without installing it. Where would that ring go?

Also, I didn't do a compression test with my piston and nozzle because I don't know how. Is it simple to do, can I do it myself without any tools that I probably would need to buy?
