vfc scar :(

Alright so i just recieved my new vfc scar two days ago and i thought to myself today that i should attempt to change out the barrels to see how the cqb looks and feels. I took a look at a few videos on you tube of guys field stripping their vfc scars but couldnt find anything that showed the actual barrels getting switched out. So i decided to take it on (having never opened up an aeg to this extent. When i managed to get the longer barrel out there was a rubber sleeve around the bottom of the barrel. This sleeved seemed to be what held the barrel into the hop up. I say this but i honestly have no idea. Anyway, i put the sleeve onto the smaller barrel and inserted the barrel in but as i did the rubber piece tore. Upon close inspection i have no idea how this sleeve would ever fit into the hop up with out getting torn. This sleeve may have been a seal but either im pretty sad not knowing what impending doom i have placed upon my gun once i am able to fire it. I currently still waiting for a charger for my batteries so untill then i have to sit and hope for the best. Someone please help!!!!!!!

Thanks,
Ryan

5$ and you get an upgraded hopup rubber, they make a big difference in performance. The guarder clear hopup rubber is often a great choice!

Alright I don't know bout the SCAR but on an M4 when you take the upper reciever off you will be able to remove your hop up unit. Where the inner barrel joins the hop up there is a collet or C clamp that will hold the barrel tight in the hop up. There will also be a rubber seal around( sometimes this is metal) that shores up the extra space. becuae I'm guessing you forced the matter You may have lost the hop bucking as well. There is a groove on the bottom of the barrel that the hop rubber will guide into. Make sure it is in place. If you've lost the hop bucking then you will need to take apart the hop up as well when replacing it. The good news is it all goes back together the way you took it apart. The bad news... well you've screwed up once and now you'll Have to take it apart.

Best advice get a gun doctor in you area.

Good luck

Exactly why

I don't do nothing but shoot these things...

There are plenty of guys out there that get off on tinkering with this stuff... and I am quite willing to trade $ for their time.

find an Airsmith..

The c clamp is still in place (thankfully) but i do need to buy a new sleeve or a couple dozen as i cant see fixing this on the first try. I am going to order my sleeve from this seller on ebay and i just want your opinion on which one i should buy. http://search.stores.ebay.com/eHobby...rsrtZdQQsofpZ0

Last question, when i slide the sleeve on and insert into the hopup should the sleeve be slid up the barrel? or where should it sit when inserting? There was also a spacer which goes on last once everything is intact in the hopup.

Thanks

this is exactly what came out.......just tell me where i should put the sleeve before inserting and which sleeve i should buy and i should be able to fix my little miss hap and learn. I don't like the idea of not being able to fix my own shit so if it costs a bit of money to learn well what the hell eh?

Thanks guys

I'm guessing you figured out to undo the 2 setscrews on the fake barrel?

When you get the new rubber you'll see it has a little ridge that'll fit into the slot on the inner barrel. Opposite the ridge is the milled spot for the hopup. Slip on with silicone lube and the follow with the hopup and secure with the C-clip. The C-clip only fits on one way.

Get a few rubbers and an extra hopup so if you do want to swap to the CQB setup it's a bit less of a hassle.

Yea I just got the SCAR in I am bout to post some pics here as well as a youtube vid of my bro opening it up straight out of the shipping box. I put the gun into CQB within about 30 min of opening it up. the bucking(the little ruber cylinder) is a little tight which is good. I just spun it about 8times gently tugging and voila!! no ripping. I will be getting a Systema Hop up for my bro pretty soon since just like the VFC HK416 it have a clear polycarbhop up. IF you buy off ebay get get your stuff from me. :P LOL I have not got any hop ups though. I would go with ehobbyasia on ebay, he great for inernals as well as tons more and great prices. pretty much anyone on ebay is good though if you make sure their feedback is above 94-95% (mine is 100%)and if they screw you paypal will get it back... so dont worry. Well If you have any questions about it you need ansewrd ask me away since I got it sittin here. Good luck with the new big boy toy.
