Is there a easy way to remove and install pinion gears easily without purpose built airsoft tools?

Depends on the motor... some have a set screw and are more or less easy to pull off. The Marui motors do not. There was another thread about pinion gears... as I recall some dude managed to pull it off with regular tools. I could be misremembering though.

i got mine off with normal tools. just put the gear in a vice, then tap the drive shaft out with a hammer and nail, or other pointy tapping thing. i dont think i reinstalled the replacement gear properly though, it worked fine for about 1000 rounds, but now the pinion just spins around the motor shaft.... shit now i need a new motor.

I ordered a G&P pinion gear for an EG700. I think I might need to try some RC shops if I cant figure a way to replace it without the risk of damage.
