TM AK47 fire selector acting weird...
I've seen a few similar posts on here but I'm going to drop another one because I haven't yet seen my problem described exactly.
I have a TM ak47, one in which I've modded up with no issues. Gears , pistons, etc.. all run smoothly and the gun has been working great. However, just a couple of days ago during a game I switched from semi to full auto, pulled the trigger and nothing. Then I put it back to semi, fired, it shot, switched back too full and it shot then too. Now it seems as if the problem is getting worse. If I want to fire on full auto I have to wiggle the fire selector lever BARELY out of the semi auto notch and then 8 out of 10 times it will shoot on full auto. I've dry fired it observing the selector lever itself happily vibrating all the way back up to the FULL auto notch?? And it still works, until I move it again. Then I have to go through the same song and dance. I've had it apart to look at it and can't seem to see any obvious problems. I've tightened the screw that holds the lever on the reciever as well and that hasn't seemed to help. Anyone have a clue where to start with this one?

Something must be wrong/worn with the fire selector half gear, perhaps?

Check the trigger contacts inside the mechbox.
Check the selector plate's contact with the trigger box. Make sure you do not have grease all over the selector plate and contacts - they need to be dry/clean.

i cant recall if the TM's selector switch was tightened by a screw or not. but sometimes due to vibration or worped due to usage can sometimes affect the part that pushes on the clip that intersects the sector gear for semi/fullauto.
Sometimes checking this out side of the gearbox helps, then when its put together identify the area of interest. |

Sorry for the huge delay in replying to all of your suggestions. Been away for awhile. Anyway, in pulling apart my gearbox to install a reinforced box I think I found the problem. Rather simple too.
I've had the gearbox apart often with all of the upgrading I've done to the gun (I think the only stock thing left in the box is the trigger and a couple of springs..) I think somehow the trigger box came a little loose from where it should be seated. So when the selector plate was in full auto it wasn't making a good connection causing the intermitten functioning of full auto and sometimes during semi. Anyway this problem couldn't have happened at a better time as I was planning to have all of the guts removed anyway to put into my new box. As a side note.. after all of this "messing around" I've been doing with my Ver. 3 gearbox I couldn't feel more at home with it totally apart now. Thanks for the replies by the way guys!
