I'm thinking of getting a P226.. I've got some questions.

I wanted to get all the upgrades now, While I have a fair chunk of money set away dedicated to this... So y'know.. I don't get side-tracked and end up blowing it on something else XD... But you know... Maybe that year will be a test to see if I'm truely loyal to the sport. I think that'll be a fair bit.

As for propellant.... Is the TM p226 good with propane (with silicon lubing) ?

not stock, i did run it for a couple weeks (about 2 mags) when i knew i was getting my full metal kit. but in stock form if you want it to last i would say only use 134a, not the much harder propane. now that im full metal and all i use propane all the time and would recomend it for sure since the full metal needs the extra kick to function (plus it feels better).

if you have the money now and have the willpower to wait then do so. i was in a similar situation when i started out and i know that i was better off for having waited. if you have the money now you will have the money then. if you dont trust yourself with having the money sitting where you can get access to it and want to make sure it is still sitting there waiting for your airsofting use, then i would say take out a term deposit where you cant access it for a set amount of time and thus wont be tempted to blow it on something else. waiting the year i think is a fair test, hell i waited 4 years from when i found airsoft till i was legal for my first game and i made it, so im sure you can stick out the year.

It runs fine on propane, I've been running mine for quite a while now on nothing but propane (duster is now whimpy to me);

If you keep it stock, eventually you may have to replace the slide, or the firing nozzle (I bought myself an enhanced guarder poly nozzle and an extra slide/barrel set just because mine was getting shot up) and it still works perfectly fine. I'd honestly stay away from KJW just because of their craptacular valve designs that have done some of the most stupid things in the world, let alone the other flaws presented in the first page.

As far as the laser goes, Jugglez has a King Arms L250 Compact Laser for $45 bucks, but I personally think they're nigh useless for anything but indoors.

I see you're from Manitoba, there should be a great number of people (I assume you've been to XT) that have P226's that you can see in action.

if you ever need an extra plastic slide/frame i would sell you mine though it sounds like your set for the time being... i think a big part of the push for alot of people to go full metal on them is that simply put it feels way better to hold and alot more sturdy than the plastic of the stock tm. i had heard mixed results from people using propane in the p226 stock form, some like you got them to run all the time no problems, but others i have heard of cracking slides among other problems showing up quite quicky after they started using propane.

either way i am sure that he will ifnd the right solution for him.

True; although I've come to the realization that the only way to go is one of the more expensive Creation/Prime etc. kits. Guarder is nicely priced and everything, but I don't like the planishing aspect of it, somehow die cast aluminum doesn't strike me as the better way to go

i already spent 500$ on upgrades for my p226....and guess what...i didnt even buy it yet...lol..but when i do it will be mad sexy and powerfull...

i agree and if i had $500+ to drop into a metal slide and frame kit i absolutely would have gone that way. however since i still wanted to keep my gbb project somewhat within reason i went with guarder, since it is higher quality than the action kit in the markings and general metal quality. as for the planishing it wasnt hard and it just took time more than anything. the end result is amazing and thats what im most concerned with.

Guard provides extra insurance that your pistol will fire when operations require close quarter battle. Aren't those Strike RIS things for pistol whipping IIRC, atleast the muzzle end?

It's an AFB (Alternative Force Block) that allows an additional point of control against your target.

Not only does it prevent the target from disabling your gun as scooby mentioned, it also allows you to press it up against the target while maintaining muzzle control on him.

And yeah, I suppose you could punch him in the face with the muzzle, "just cuz you can."
