M15A4 Tactical Carbine stripped gear(s)
Anyways, Ive maybe put 500 bbs through this rifle after I bought it. Was doing a bit of plinking when all of a sudden on auto it started making this whiney stripping sound and continues to do so with any shot (semi or auto)
now, since then ive only had the gun apart and not the mechbox itself. I plan on doing and learning the rest myself, so i'll get back to this topic once I take a closer look (had one too many drinks tonight to even attempt to do so).... I'd definitely have to say its some sort of stripped gear or something similar, I noticed just before this happened that bbs would come out every couple of cycles in auto.. on and off on and off.. then nothing. Seems odd as I just purchased this gun used off a member (used but fairly new)...

You had a feeding jam, which caused the tapped plate to jam, and thus stripped the piston and/or gears. Time to see a gun doc.

Well ive taken apart the mechbox and the tall part of the spur gear is broken right off. A closer look shows its a clean snap.. any idea what caused this? Everything else seems to be okay as of now..
Edit--- Just checked the sector gear and its missing 2 teeth on the bottom side of the gear (found the teeth laying inside lol) So whats the verdict, buy a whole new set of gears?
