Voltmeter reading at motor

On a v3 mechbox (from a CA 36 if that matters), what should a voltmeter read (volts, amps etc...) at the electrical connectors (red and black wires) that are soldered to the motor?

To clarify the above, I'm asking for what readings should be there both without a motor attached and when the motor is wired but disconnected from the mechbox.

I'm guessing that with the bare wires and the trigger pulled, it should read the same as taking a reading off the battery itself (since all the connections should essentially close the loop). Maybe some loss for all the connections?

Will/should the readings be the same when the motor is wired and running?

I'm no electrical whiz by any stretch, just trying to find out what's wrong with my mechbox.

Thanks,

Tys

Voltage on the contacts motor connected/disconnected should be equal or close to what you battery is rated for( ie. if it's an 8.4v battery it sould be very close to 8.4v) amprage is a different story. if you hook it in line with your motor it would depend on what load you have on the motor. Example would be a stock tm m4 would have x draw an up graded tm m4 with the same motor would have y draw due to the fact that the motor has to work much harder to fire the gun. Hope that helps

if i remember right, under load with the mechbox it is normal that the voltage drop a bit because it is working hard, not enough amp coming in the motor for what it is droing.

Voltage under load will be close to what the battery is rated for as posted above. An 8.4V without load will be about 9.4V roughly.

Like CDN_Stalker said, and if I remember correctly, my 8.4 minis read ~9.2 just sitting there not plugged into anything. I'll check later tonight. Was wondering what voltage change if any to expect when a (good) motor was running.

Might get the chance to try it out tonight.

Yes.

Batteries always show a higher voltage without a load. Try it yourself, even with a common 9V battery.

Confirmed just now. 8.4v mini, unplugged reads 9.3v. It does drop down (on my motor it drops to 7.9v) with the motor attached and running, but not in the mechbox. It's too hard to get a reading with the motor in the mechbox, everything jumps around too much and you need three hands!

Thanks for all the replies. BTW. the stock CA motor that I had is shot, the new TM eg1000s works like a dream.

For those unaware, the stated capacity of a battery is usually in fact its DISCHARGED voltage; as noted above charged voltage is always higher.

ah thanks for the enlighment. i didnt think of checking what my battery output was with out a motor, when i come to think about it... it would explain why my icepeak charger is charging batteries at a higher voltage then the rated one.
