Only leaves a 1mm slot (there are two thicknesses of cut off wheels available, I use the thinner ones) that very partially goes into the mag release button (like 2mm each side). I clean that up after by simply applying some gun bluing to blend it in. I could add some filler before to fill in the slots, but it's not that noticable anyways. Luckily I've only had to do it a couple times over the dozens of Armalites I've worked on.

Case in point to this thread, screws chosen by airsoft manufacturers are substandard, replace as soon as you can. Second, it's best to keep allen/hex head keys in good condition. I've found a few times I have rounded edges and when it starts to strip, I have to cut the end off to make a fresh tip. Quality tools are worth the investment!!!! Don't have to go all Snap On or anything, but "Dollar Store" allen keys should be avoided at all costs for airsoft use.
