broken body loop

Hey all.

Recently, my gun was fixed...

But I had a BB jam into my hopup some how after a black ring flew out the barrel, so I went to remove the body pin to inspect. I cleaned it out, and put the body back together.

I went to tap in the pin, missed the pin, and shattered the front loop that holds on the pin (upper body).

I panic, and try to put the piece back on with JB weld, I follow proper instructions, with a full dry time of 24 hours. My dad claims this won't work, as there's too much tension on it. To no avail, he is correct, it is not strong enough. I still have the broken off piece by the way, which fits perfectly.

The body with broken loop:

The piece itself:

(The grey crap is stripped off JB weld)

Any ideas guys? Otherwise I have to use electrical tape, and be the tape lord. And that's not cool at all, as well I really don't want to shell out on a new metal body. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

You are in the crappy position of having to replace the lower receiver completely.

The hinge points are the primary tension points for most AEGs, just like real steel firearms.

No amount of JB Weld, or tinkering, or tape, or welding, is going to help.

It sucks, but better to be replaced now, then blowing apart on you during a game.

(Receiver pins should never have to be hammered/tapped in - if they bind, something's obviously wrong. Remove, realign the two parts, and try again.)

im with savage on this one,,the best repair is a new reciever. for a tempory solution,,and by temperory i mean just that,, you could theoreticly use reciever pins in place of your push pins. being that they bolt together might give you enough tension to keep you playing untill your reciever arrives. (p.s.) do this at your own risk.

you didnt specify what kind of ammo you are using? if its low quality the jam itself could have been from piss poor ammo.

If you know or can find someone who is really good at TIG welding aluminum, you can get it repaired. It's damned tricky to do though.

And that all depends if it is truely aluminum, or an aluminum alloy. Alot of alloys can not be welded.
