SP160 setup question..
Ok... I still have my stock EG700 motor + 9.6v 2400mah. My gears are infinite helicals.
I brought it in my gunsmith and he told me that this setup should last 5-6 hi-caps..(300 each). But I tested it back at home, the motor is getting really hot. And the wires too. I'm just wondering what else should i do to keep this setup going. My 2nd question... I can't get an accurate bb flights on this setup even my barrel is 510mm. Groupings are really bad. It was waaay way better when I still using my SP120 spring. What else should i do?!? thanks a lot.

Get a higher torque motor. The Systema Magnum motor would be great for this application.
Might also want to switch to low resistance wiring and install a MOSFET to save the rest of the electrical circuit. The contacts in the trigger and the selector plate will burn themselves out very soon, with such a heavy spring. What inner barrel are you using? A tightbore? and what weight BBs are you using? At such high velocities, you should be using heavier BBs. If you're still using 0.25g BBs, that much air pressure throws light BBs out of wack. I'd recommend 0.30g or heavier BBs.

how MOSFET works anyway? What does it do?

*Basically*, it takes the current load off the mechanical switch.
High current setups (like yours) will create massive sparks in the mechanical switch, which will eventually burn a hole through your contact points. Switching to a MOSFET switch will divert the huge current jump to the transistor. |

sorry to thread jack here but 9.6 batt on basically a stock(internally) mechbox its no good??

there is no reason what so ever to get a mosfet. it is just another part that can go wrong. go to http://ffw.pgup.dk/guides/KortereSwi...tereSwitch.htm
there is a guide to shortening the contact assembly it helps a lot. and will make your swith run for 10k or more rounds on SEMI. with a good 9,6 volt battery and a magnum motor you can run your SP160 spring on prometheus Torque gearing no problem. i myself run a custom spring which gives 650 FPS (yes no BS) on prometheus trippel torque gearing, magnum motor. Elite 9,6 4500 mah NiMh battery, and the semi shoots are really nice, and the motor don become very hot at all, even 500 semi shots in fast sucession only give a grip that is 35 degrees approximatly. with other motors the gun wont even turn, not even on a 13,2 4500 battery. |
