TM M4 Electrical Issue

Problem:

No power flow through on fully assembled mechbox.
Took it apart checked the wiring, rear wiring was a little loose so I re solder the wires, nothing else was disconnected or broken.
I hooked up a motor and battery to test to see if the switches where all working while the mech box was open.

Squeezed the trigger and the motor spun thought everything was good.

Re assembled the mechbox hooked up the battery and nothing?

If it worked when it was open why not when closed?

I need some input not sure what to do

What kind of battery are you using? Are you by any chance using a G&P crane stock?

I am using a 4300 Mah GP NIMH battery, full charged and very reliable.
THe gun was shooting earlier in the day and then it just stopped dead, no power to the motor at all with 3 different batteries.

I did change the motor connectors to prometheus gold because one of them broke but that was the only change.

It's a lame and obvious reply, but I would definitely check your solder joints (and fuse!) again. If you've made no other changes other than connectors then thats almost certainly it. If you've got one of those cheap CT multimeters around, try using the continuity setting (disconnecting your 4300mAh battery first!) to test your wires. If you've done all that, then crack open the mechbox again to be certain nothing is binding the gears (such as your antireversal latch) or the piston.

heh, you probably don't want to hear all that from a newb, but I'm tinkering with my aug mechbox right now so I thought I'd pitch in a penny or two..

I am not running a fuse on this system right now, that can't be the issue.

I checked the motor connectors all solid, the rear wired connector is spliced and soldered solid.

Could the selector plate or trigger switch be the culprit, not much experience with these parts

Took the box apart again, cleaned all the contacts, tested the system and everything worked.

Why when everything is laid bare would the current flow through the electrical system but when it is assemblled it does not?

Is it shorting out, grounding something, I am not an electrician?

I did notice a wire was bare near were the motor spins (wear through), could this touch the motor metal and cause the problem?

I am grasping at straws here.

I had a thought earlier that it could be a short... but I assumed you had inspected the wires when you had it taken down, so that coule be possible. Maybe a split wire thats being crimped when you re assmble it even.

I just had this problem today, it's worth checking.
(the metal plates on the gearbox body were pushed in : no contact from the selector plate.)

short circuit = heat + smoke + bad smell I guess you'd notice that.

eliminate all cable wearing through, it's fundamental.

It is working now, patched up the wire, cleaned all contacts, pushed the contacts for the selctor plate out a bit further and rechecked all the connections.

Seems to work great now, hope it holds out.
I think I need a new AEG that is less than 8 years old, this thing is too much maintenance.
