Sometimes the wiring in the grip will cause the motor to bind up and not allow smooth vertical motion for height adjustment. Just make sure that when you connect the motor, it will move freely in and out of the grip.
Usually it's the red wire that causes grief as it has to make a couple of sharp bends in order to connect to the motor terminal.

Yea sounds like its either shimming or motor adjustment.. if you have never adjusted your motor.. play with it a bit so you can identify the sweet spot.. which is less of a whine but there will always be some

Check the gear on your motor to see if it's ok. if it's chewed up, adjusting the motor up and down won't make a big difference. You should have perfect taper fin like structure. no nicks or hook like curves or dents.
But it is most likely the way you arrange the wire in your grip like mcguyver said. The little silver disk is very important too.

it's hard to be 100% sure but it looks like the spring on the tappet plate and switch contact are both upside down. this will cause the switch to sometimes stick and the tappet plate spring to rub/bind and make a weird noise. This is from visually looking at the pics and not listening to yoru audio clip.
Take a top/down picture (birds eye view) and we can be sure.

Just an observation and a question (sorry if I threadjack a tiny bit): For your Gear 1, the Marui M16 manual of the exploded gearbox shows that there is supposed to be a 0.5 shim at the top in addition to the two that you have said are present on the bottom. My question is, in my TM Aug, I also don't see that 0.5 shim at the top even though the TM AUG manual says there is one. Anyone know if this is normal? My gears are not stock by the way. Here is a pic to clarify the shim I am talking about: |

Like I said before gun to gun is different. And especially if you don't have stock gears.
When you put different gears in you typically have to reshim the whole gun. And yes sometimes there isn't enough room to put a shim on both sides of the gear so its possible there is no shim. I can't say its normal because there is no such thing as a normal shim job. almost every gun/gearbox,gear, bushing combo is different. The only gun so far I have found not to need shims adjusted is the m14 if ungraded with prometheus bushings but stock gears. The prometheous bushings fit in real nice and seem to be exact same placement as the stock bushings. I have upgraded 4 different m14's. 3 I used promeathus bushings and didn't have to reshim. the 1 I used system bushings I had to reshim. |
