HSGI warlord opinion needed
Hello fellow gearwhore. I need some information about the Warlord series from HSGI. I tried to find reviews but couldn't find anything good.
I was looking at getting the V3 in tan for my desert loadout but my main concern was the admin panel. I find it really neat but I'm worried about it being too bulky. What I mean is will it restrict my movement while crouching and proning or will I be fine ? If you have any first hand experience with any versions of the warlord your input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

From what I hear, biggest concern you may have is the "bulk". Some love the cocoon feel, others hate it.

It's depends on how much stuff you put in it. If your 4 mag pouches are loaded up, it will be quite bulky. I have a version 4 and I try not to place anything thicker than a double mag pouch on the front, if I want to go prone and have decent flexability. If it's a couple of pens, flashlight, maps, glow sticks, it's fine. If you field strip a pair of MRE's and stuff them in the admin panel, you've got quite some bulk.

I have had a standard Warlord with pouches attach and I now use a modular but with pretty much exact same configuration as the v2.
Like ODP said the bulk depends on what you put in it. For the lowest profile possible only put a minimun of stuff in the admin area. Generally for most games I probably only have my keys and maybe a power bar in there. But the mag pouches also make the other part of the equation up. For instance if you running 3 mags/pouch the pouches stick out more. If you put 2 in and have them flat against the chest rig its more low profile and more comfortable to lay on. Me I personally like having it as it sorta props me up in a firing position. But pretty much any chest rig you wear will interfer with going as flat to ground as possible. I would suggest webbing if your a guy who spends a lot of time on his chest. |

I had one as well, and found the admin pouch to be a pain in the ass to zip up when the pouches had something in them. Basically, I stopped using it.
Also, maybe it's just me, but the rig killed my back over time.

I checked a little more info and realised that the V4 with a 8 mags shingle would be the best option for me. As for spending a lot of time on my chest, not really and right now I use a FSBE with 4 double mag pouches at the bottom. I'm guessing it will end up being pretty much the same thing as a warlord. I contacted optactical.com to see if they had it in stock, I'll end up ordering a V4 pretty soon I guess.

Daves Surplus as well as One shot Tactical I believe both have them in stock or are able to get them in quite quickly. As they are in Canada, it may save you some cash.

I already checked around and since I'm getting a whole loadout desert my best bet is probably optactical.com. Only thing I wont be needing is the BDU since I already have it but I'm buying everything else which means holster, dump pouch, knee pad and any other details I might not be thinking about right now.

I know that Dave's has all of those in stock. I bet that One Shot Tactical has them all too.

Thanks for the plugs guys!
In stock right now -----> V-4 in Tan V-3 in Tan HSGI D/L holster in Arid MARPAT and Tan TAG dump pouch in Tan Plus TAG and HSGI mag pouches and shingles in tan. No knee pads, however I would recomend the Alta ones and they are alot easier to get on and off than others. The Admin pouch does not add any bulk unless you are trying to stuff oversize things in it. In the field unzipping and zipping it up can be a hassle. For crew commanders or guys who want a good chest rig this is a great piece of kit. I would recommend shopping around though for prices, you might be surprised at what a US order adds up to.

Don't worry Farmboy I'll look around when I'm ready to buy and I'll probably send you a quote too on everything I need to see if you can get them fast enough and at the right price.
I wasn't planning on stuffing it with oversize stuff but pretty much just the essential. Right now the way my rig is set up I need to use one of my double mag pouch for the stuff needed during a milsim. I really liked the idea of having the admin panel for that purpose instead.
