KJW KP-05 Hi Capa - 10 shots per CO2 cylinder

I bought my KP-05 about a month ago and it ran great at first. 60 shots per CO2 cartridge.

Now though, the gun seems to be shooting tons of gas each pull and runs out after approx. 10 shots. (and those 10 are inconsistent) Replaced the magazine release valve (several times) as I thought it was a mag problem. This didn't fix it. So dropped another $55 yesterday on a new green gas mag and can of gas and... same exact thing.

Near as I can tell is that the sear isn't disengaging after each shot so gas just spews out as the slide moves back and forth. I disassembled and checked the shiny disconnect "arm" to see if it was broken but looks fine to me.

Codename: Moneypit :banghead:

Any help or advice is appreciated. Might have to break down and try to find a tech in Calgary or Airdrie. :-(

Sounds like you have a broken/cracked nozzle. Replace that and it should be fine again.

It's only a moneypit when you don't know what the issue is and keep throwing money at it trying to solve the problem, as you apparently are doing.

Guilty as charged. :-) Trying to sleuth it out based on youtube vids and forum posts isn't the ideal approach for sure.

Thanks for the idea. I did take a good look at that nozzle and it seems fine but I will definitely take another peek. Gracias.

More than half the time it isn't even apparent that it's cracked or damaged.

Checked and triple checked. No sign of damage whatsoever. I do Quality Assurance for a living and if there is a crack or broken piece in there, it is beyond me.

The red nozzle seems fine but it doesn't form a seal with the red/black disc that it slips over. Is there some O-ring that I am missing? Or should these two slide over each other easily?

Looks fine but like I said the nozzle could still be damaged. Or the valve inside.

Thanks again.

I lubed it up inside and out and made sure all was tight and clean. I will try to put a mags worth of BBs downrange tonight. Could be that the piston ring has shrunk a bit. Hard to say.

If that doesn't fix her, I'll be sure to take your advice and swap in a new nozzle and innards. ;-)

Your help and insight has been much appreciated.

I lubed up the nozzle last night and it was fine for about 3-4 mags then started to have the same issue. Looks like I will try to find a non-KJW nozzle to swap in.

Update: Replaced the nozzle with a brand new one and... absolutely no difference. I get about 5 shots and then all of the gas vents out. Exact same with a brand new green gas mag.

So.... if it isn't the nozzle, it may be the piston head. I wrapped it in teflon last time but when I disassembled, the teflon had been shredded. I would try to make a replacement out of rubber but getting it completely round and precise might be beyond me. Might try to find a different brand of piston head.

Double confirmed. Swapped in a brand new piston and valve and no change.

Think maybe an issue with the valve knocker disconnector but assembled it all carefully again unsure. The damn CO2 mag gets wonky when the gas vents like that. Like the cold gas shrinks the valve gaskets.

No insurance otherwise she'd be heading for a can of gas and some matches. haha
