G&P M14's have historical issues with the spur gear specifically, and the gears in general. If you are buying it from a certain local Toronto retailer that has the G&P M14 DMR .. be prepared for them to deny any recourse, should it just happen to grenade just out of the box. Fair warning. The gears weren't the only issue.. the pot metal receiver also broke at the barrel. I got the CYMA M14 Socom16 as an interim M14 while i tried to get the motivation to fix the G&P abortion. I threw the G&P's telescopic sight and K-A RAS onto the CYMA, and took it out for a few games. It's the rifle that i should have bought, had i researched the G&P M14 DMR issues first before buying. CYMA has pretty good externals, and it is a reasonable good quality for a rifle, at the price point that it is at. Like any TM compatible M14, it can be tarted up quite nicely, externally and internally. The gearbox in the G&P was also a bit .. odd, as compared to the two other V7 gearboxes that i had. Some variations were noted in dimensions. My CYMA has proven to be more reliable, than my experience with the 'up-market' G&P showed, anyway. Last edited by HackD; January 30th, 2013 at 19:32.. |

CYMA is crap, I saw one take a dump in the first 200 rounds.
TM is good but not king, it's highly overrated, and hard to find in Canada. G&P looks like a retarded fish. CA and G&G use the same design and mags. Their parts are different than the TM, but any part except for the mechbox shell which is indestructible anyway can be found through Canadian retailers. My opinion is the CA/G&G mechbox is a much better design, with much more reinforcement, which is one of the reasons I got one. Yes I am biased. |

CYMA or E1 and toss in a Guarder FTK if you really want. CYMA and E1 tolerances may be a bit off spec so with an FTK you might have to shave things down here and there to fit them.
The M14 hop up system is actually pretty genius so it should outrange most other stock guns (and even some slightly upgraded ones). G&G and CA make a weird V7 hybrid thing that's not really "TM compatible" so I would avoid them but out of the box they're not bad. G&P is also not bad BUT the problem with them is their shitty internal quality (great externals but shitty innards, it's like putting a shitty off spec POS engine into a Ferrari). Honestly with what's out there right now (VFC, KA, Lonex) I can't really recommend G&P anymore.

And the mags really aren't THAT expensive, I got my CA midcaps for 17 each and they all feed fine. |
