G&G m14 socom no response from electrics

the gun was cycling fine during the day of hotbox, but gave up the ghost when the sun went down. There was no response from the trigger, not even a buzz from the motor. I initially thought dead battery, but trying a new one resulted in nothing.

Then I thought it might be the fuse, so when I got home, I pulled the fuse, it seemed fine, I cleaned the contacts on either end and put it back in, and lo and behold the gun started cycling again.

So I went into my basement and started putting mags of BBs through ( I am also having feeding issues with crappy CA magazines, which hopefully I solved)

at some point, the gun died again, and again, I stripped it down to the fuse, pulled it out, checked it, put it back in and it started firing again.

the 3rd time, I randomly tried changing the selector from semi to fully and it started shooting again. (I remember doing this at hotbox and getting no response) so I'm not sure what's going on.

I have read that the reverse lockout was changed by a few other newer g&g m14 owners, could this be causing these weird issues?

check the trigger and trigger contacts for grease build up or excessive wear. It can happen fairly easily with the G&G M14s

Yeah, non functioning semi and functioning full auto can be a sign of your trigger contacts burning out. Get that checked out because pretty soon full auto probably will stop working too.

doesn't make sense, if the trigger contact were burning out, switching it to full auto and then back to semi would still result in no firing, but when I do this, it fires. I will disassemble the gearbox again after the game this weekend to investigate the trigger contact, I don't think this is the case with less than 2000 rounds through the gun.

if you have to switch to auto and then back.. that sounds like a semi auto seizure

as for the other... personally I find the stock plastic cased glass fuse holders in airsoft... suck... big sweaty goat balls... if you feel you must have a fuse replace the whole unit with a mini blade type...

semi auto seizure sounds a lot more plausible at this point. I was firing quickly in semi every time it happened. I'm thinking either I didn't pull the trigger all the way on the shot before it stopped, or the rotation of the gears half cocked everything after the final shot.

Could active braking like installing a relay or a mosfet fix this?

Well from what you said before I thought you meant it only worked in full auto, and didn't function in semi.

From what you are describing now it does sound like a semi auto seizure.

I think there's a thread in here called "Semi Auto Seizure Explained", it might have the fix.
