Magpul Masada PTS - Trigger issue
Hello all
Ive managed to aquire myself a Magpul Masada - flown in by the "rumors" about 10-12month break in production for factory relocation aaaand I've bumped into a trigger issue: the gun fires 40% of the time full auto bursts when the fire selector is in SEMI. No "it fires on safe" issues here. Ive tried changing the way how the fire selector gears are connected to the cut of lever but (clockwise and counter clockwise) but no luck - still fires full auto burts in SEMI. Feels weird that after a night when no lipo connected the gun seems to work fine for 40-50 rounds ==> SEMI is SEMI not a burst of full auto fire. But when it starts to hick up its 40% change that when the trigger is pressed its going to fire more than 1BB. So any suggestion what to do - where to get what - or where to aquire spareparts ect ? -Juha- |

The Magpul PTS Masada has same internal design as the ARES's Tavor. (Same Manufacturer) Look up on how to fix the Tavor semi problem and you will find your answer.
sand/file down the selector switch because it is too thick so the mechbox shell compresses it and cause the semi auto to not function properly. Use fine hobby modeling sand paper and finish with silicon oil buff.

The sanding trick kinda works. What usually causes the problem is a weakened trigger spring. (If it's like the ARES Tavor.) After playing with the gearbox for a bit, the trigger spring can be weakened quite a bit. I find that replacing it with a V2 trigger spring works quite well. I haven't had any semi-auto issues since.
Also, an active braking mosfet is very useful as well.

If the trigger system is anything like the Tavor, that mosfet will not work.

it will ot fit - masada by magpul has proprietery switching unit - in actual fact its kinda the same switch that u get for the buttons on vending machines..hint hint
in fact scrap that - it IS a vending machine switch lol but i digress - standard v2 switching units will never work as the mechbox is not designed for it :P if u look inside some of the VEEEEEEEERY old ares M4's form the first runs they did u will find the exact same design. my best suggestion is check out some ares parts for replacement - not sure about compatibillity but worth a shot maybe.

Is this like a hit or miss issue? I own a Magpul Masada PTS as well and I haven't ran into that issue as of yet, and the only time something like that happened was when I am putting the gun back together after rewiring the gun to deans and snapping the upper receiver to lower and the selector switch was in the wrong position going back in. But then again I probably haven't put it through enough as of yet..
