okay so i tried backing the motor out and after about 1 full turn it shot!
But the gun seemed to be cycling fine and it didnt sound like the motor was out of place.

Doesn't take much. As long as it shoots properly, happy shooting!

how do you know your setup sounds good? have you compared it with a gun that works perfectly? sometimes it hard to catch problems by noise if you don't know what to listen for.

Ive been dealing with these guns for a while so i know what a healthy gun sounds like.
Both my G&G mp5a4 and my ICS m4a1 are in perfect internal condition and they sound the same as the JG. but i do understand what you mean, but yes i have compared it to guns that are working perfectly

Different guns and brands will have different gears and motors and will sound different.
Can't assume that they are perfect when brand new. Some require work to hit that sweet spot so they are pretty quiet and last a long time with less wear. My m4 was fairly quiet compared to others with a drop in g&p m120 mechbox but after modifying the PTS grip plate to allow for better motor positioning, she's even quieter. Meanwhile I know my mp5 screams and squeals because of the JG motor and the old modify modular gearset. |

i had this exact problem with mine. if you have a bearing spring guide that is where mine failed. the guide actually screwed off the back plate and would just sit in the spring. it would shoot fine for a bit, then the guide would jam it up and nothing. give it a whack and it would shoot for a bit, then jam up. open the gear box, and check. it happened twice to me, second time i used locktite and have not had a problem after that
