KJW 1911 Barrel/slide/chamber Jam fix

My 1911 was suffering from this problem, tilting the gun up while pulling the slide back there where no jams. Tilting it down almost always guaranteed that the slide would jam. Pressing the tip of the barrel in undid the jammed slide.

I realized that pressing the barrel up while pulling the slide back stopped the it from jamming. So I stuck some electrical tape on the inner bottom part of the barrel bushing and it works perfectly. There might be the occasional jam but for me its turned it from a chronic problem to a hardly ever happens problem.

But I was hoping if anyone with experience with pistols could tell me if I am doing any kind of damage to my gun with this fix.
