TM AUG keeps shredding its hop-up rubber
My friend bought a TM AUG off these forums awhile ago and it keeps shredding the hop-up rubber.
Is this an issue anyone has had before? The stock one shredded once and I replaced it with a stiffer one and that only lasted about 500 rounds before it tore in half (if you look down the back of the barrel, you see the lip is torn and half of it is just the bare metal from the barrel). I am certain that I reassembled the unit correctly. The barrel is a 6.03 prometheus tightbore and the rubber was aligned correctly. The other issue is that the firing trigger is very sensitive. With the AUG, there is no fire select so it is just a half-pull for semi and full pull for full-auto but I noticed that the gearbox still has a cutoff lever in it. I think that might be worn down as well since the gun burst fires often. Could burst firing also be a cause of jammed bbs/torn hop-up rubber in the barrel? The gearbox has been upgraded with bearing spring guide, m130 spring, and runs off an 11.1v 2800mah LIPO battery. I need to purchase a new rubber anyway, what would you recommend for this setup?

What kind of BB's do you run through it? And no bursts of BB's will not cause that, or we'd all be in trouble when we fired in full auto.

Widening the gap makes a bigger delay between safe and shoot - too wide and you'll have to press like a mofo to get the AEG to fire. It's an easy fix but it's deep inside the mechbox.

KSC 0.20 Perfects. I'll buy another even stiffer rubber bucking and try again and hope it lasts. I don't know why the lip is always tearing unless the nozzle is not aligned correctly or something? Perhaps I didn't push the rubber down the barrel enough? I'll try again and pay more attention.

Remove the barrel assembly and carefully check for a tiny crack in the hop-up chamber.
It is a VERY common problem, caused when you quick strip the rifle without removing the magasine. Loo around the place where the barrel clip goes, most of the time this is where it break. It will cause the unit to flex a little up, because of the pressure from the mag/feed tube that is mobile on AUGs. And nozzle miss-alignment and ripped rubbers.... |
