Belgian Brigade in Korea
Sorry if this is in the wrong section but this is my first post.
I was wondering if anyone had any information (kit wise) on the Belgian Brigade in the Korean war. I know they wore the belgian (full zip) denison smock, beret or US helmet and Belgian Camo trousers, But what did they wear underneath - US kit? Battledress? Any info apreciated! Thanks |

They pretty much wore British battledress and 44 pattern webbing. That way they could hang their us canteens.
US helmets Rifle was the SAFN 49 with a 10rd mag in 8*57 IS Check this link: http://belgian-volunteercorps-korea....ntpage%20e.htm

I find obscure topics tend to be more interesting than the well-trodden paths - not to mention cheaper!
What pattern of Battledress did they wear? The '49 pattern? Did they wear the shirt and tie with it though because I'd imagine it would be damn unconfortable without! Are you sure they used the 44 pattern of webbing? The pics that I have seen show US style cartridge belts but was this not wide practice? Thanks |
