Is it possible to buy say a 7 cell 8.4v intellect battery and reorganize it a bit so the 3x3 is split?

If this is possible, what would you wrap the 3 batteries a side in to keep them from over-heating/causing any problems? Most of the batteries are wrapped in thick plastic, what kind of plastic will work to replicate that?
