It is real tough to paint butts than can have a bit of rubber in them. You might have to strip your butt and re-apply a new kind of paint. I always reccoment duracoat, because it can harden nicely.
Were you painting in a real cold area? But yeah make sure you wipe your butt off with something that will take any surface oils out, which can lead to non-curing paint.
