With the grease and lube in your gearbox, the water pretty much repels it. Also, I don't think rain drops can actually be that much to drop into the gearbox. Even though the gearbox is screwed in with many screws tightly, the only water that can much go in is if you dunk it in a pool of water.
Your body also covers the gearbox so that isn't a problem too.
If you do plan to play in the rain, you should cover up battery connections, wires, etc. Also, the motor too, since it has a little hole under the grip.
Fire selecter, hmm, not much water can get INTO there, since you don't play with your gun sideways.
