I can see it being possible but I just mailed away my Sig552 a few hours ago so I cant confirm the fit. The Sig552 mag catch is at the back with the hook on the front, you need to rock them in like AK mags, hook the front and roll it back till it catches. I guess if you added the appropriate holes/gouges on an M16 mag it will work. In that picture though the M16 mag doesnt look like its that far in the mag well though.
