I got the Power Fist brand tool from Princess Auto for Christmas a while ago. Not a very fancy tool, but its speed adjustment is positive and precise (newer models now have an LED RPM readout), it's inexpensive, pretty good quality, comes with a flex shaft and tool set, and best of all it's from Princess Auto. If it ever breaks just take it back and get a new one, no questions asked.
