any smooth parts, rough up with fine sandpaper, it helps the paint stick
give her a rub down with rubbing alcohol to remove any junk.
spray her with a primer coat
many people like Krylon Olive Drab/Tan/flat black

keep it ventilated and spray in an area where its gonna be relativly dust free
for a flat look, spray far away.
more coats, the better. lots of LIGHT coats...dont have to soak it the 1st time
dont let it dry 100% between coats, yo just want the surface to be semi-dry
