Airsoft Canada - View Single Post - how does a airsoft silencer or flash suppressor work?

I am currently researching my first aeg, and am wondering some rifles appear to have in silencer such as the mp5 sd6 or a muzzle /flash suppressor. Do these serve the same purpose as their real live counterparts or do they in effect increase barrel length or some other effect?
