Regardless, it is not a police matter it is a Small courts matter. It costs $40 to file a claim at small courts. It is a very simple process and they give you the chance to settle out of court before that date. Actually getting the court papers in the mail 99% of the time will sort the person out enough to get the matter resolved.
Unfortunatly for your situation, being owed $75 filing in small claims would cost you more than half of what you're owed. But if it comes down to the principle of the fact, it's an option.
For people being scammed for more money (like buying an AEG) this is a more financially reasonable option.
