No, no, as with most (all? Not really an AEG guy, this is just my CQB backup) ARES guns, it's got a custom gearbox that allows for Quick Spring Change, so when you change the spring (which is ultra easy), you actually go through removing the spring guide. So you'd need to get something like THIS, the stock one doesn't come with the ball bearing, it's actually got a crappy washer instead I think.

The bucking is also easy to change, and has nothing to do with the gearbox, so it's pretty damn safe, and just like any standard Tokyo Marui-based G36.

As for the spring, I generally prefer linear springs, but since I first got a Guarder SP90 which gave me around 300 FPS, I then got a Guarder SP100 which I was sure would get me to the 1 Joule CQB mark (for my country anyway, I don't play in Canada). So from experience, I can only speak for the SP100, which is alright anyway.
