If you hook it into your belt and the shoulders are adjustable, try to leave enough room to comfortably hook your thumbs and wiggle them a bit between the vest and your shoulders.

If your neck and shoulders don't have enough room to move freely and expand, your spine will be compressed, and over the course of a game this will lead to lower back pain.
