Holographic sight sits crooked
 

Hey so I just put my holographic sight on my M4 and it seems to sit slightly crooked. The left side only seems to have one small part that actually hugs the rail when the screw tightens it, and this is what I figure causes it to not sit completely snug.

Anyways is this normal?

Does it have a side rail that can be rotated? Some do, in which case take it off and rotate 180deg and clamp down again, see if that helps.

No unfortunately not. Its all fixed and the only thing that is changable would be the small that small part which clamps onto the rail. It seems weird because only one side of the sight actually curves onto the rail and the other is just straight.. basically I don't need to slide the sight on a rail because of that..

First off, what sight is it, and the make?
Also, what's the make of your gun with the rails.

Happened to me with a clone eotech, the left plate was bent leaving the left to be higher than the right.

Shim the play
 

Stick a shim strip under here (see rendering...red line). This will stop the tightening-wedge, from pulling the mounted item up, then to one side.

Using a scizzors, cut some pop-can aluminum to make some shim strips. One might do it, if not use two of the thickness.

That's how I had to fit mine. Also, I was using a clone mount on a GBBR with real steel rail size so it didn't sit exactly how it should've.

Ok here's some pics. I believe its just a knock-off. And its going on the top reciever rail for a G&G M4, whatever that uses..

So in the pics you can see that only one side of the sight hooks under the rail while the other side is simply straight. The small part which the screw is attached tightens it to the rail..

Oh and also, is it normal to see your reflection when looking through the sight? As pretty as I am, it's kinda annoying.. but will the reflection disappear when looking at targets further away than just in my apartment?

Reflection is normal, it is a common complaint for that type of sight. It gets worse the less you've spent. Out in action though you shouldn't notice.

Real Eotech's sit off to the side a bit, its due to the rail mounting system L3 uses and how the grabber contacts the rail.

Nothing to worry about, unless its falling off in combat.

Should not effect the performance of the holographic sight.

An RS Eotech I just parted from is the same. I find that these optics mount properly only on 100% Mil-spec. Picattiny Rails.

I can confirm that - I have the PWS Diablo frontset that has the RS dimension rails which seem to be a bit more substantial and my clone holo cranks down perfect on em but always looks a bit off on the body rails - go figure lol
